‘NANDANKANAN' a famous wild life sanctuary located about a distance of 25 Km from the capital city of Bhubaneswar.It is one of the premier zoo of India lies in the fine surrounding of Chandaka forest along with Kanjia lake. There is a botanical garden in it and one part of it has been declared a sanctuary.

Nandankanan zoo or popularly known as ‘ Garden of Gods ' is famous for its white tiger population. Nandankanan zoo is an attracted place both for Indian and foreign tourist. In the deep forest of the zoo 67 kinds of mammals,18 varieties of reptiles and 81 species of birds co-exist.

It contains rare species like Indian crocodile, gharial crocodiles, Asiatic lion, white tigers, breeding black panthers, Nilgiri langur, Indian pangolin, mouse deer countless birds, reptiles and fish.The other attraction of nandankanan is the Reptile park cave whose entrance is made in the shape of tyrannosaurus . Inside that cave there are numerous species of crocodiles,lizard and snakes.

Another attraction is 620 metres long aerial rope –way connecting the Zoo with Botanical Garden over the lake. Other than this one can enjoy LION SAFARI,BOATING in Kanjia lake and elephant rides in the Nandankanan Zoo.

Nandankanan's environment is the best place for picnic. Nandankanan is opened every day except on Monday from 7.30am to 6 pm in summer and 8 am to 5 pm in winter. The best season to visit Nandankanan Zoo is from October to march.

Air:
The nearest airport is situated at Bhubaneswar .
Rail:
Bhubaneswar is the nearest railhead.
Road:
Bhubaneswar is 20-25 kms from the zoo, on the way to Cuttack .
