The orissa State Planetarium ‘Pathani Samanta Planetarium' is situated at Acharya Vihar square on NH-5. It has been named after the Oriya astronomer, Pathani Samanta Chandra Shekhar'who wrote the astronomical treatise-‘Siddhanta

Darpana'.It arranges the regular shows on Astronomical events. It also houses with many specialized research institutions like Mathematics and Materials. The main aim behind the establishment of Pathani Samanta Planetarium is to create interest and awareness among the people in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Space Science.
